Resource Ministry team

The resource ministry team has an oversight of personnel matters ensuring that HR policies are followed. Church council have the overall responsibility for approving position descriptions and appointment of personnel utilising a selection committee appointed by Church council. Volunteer positions which currently take responsibility for communications, website and fund raising are currently initiated by the resource team, generating position descriptions, and then make recommendations for approval by Church council. With volunteers, the team ensure that they conform with any insurance requirements by our insurer.


The Treasurer is the convenor of the Resource Ministry Team and reports directly to the Church Council on a quarterly basis. An annual report is presented to the congregation at the AGM usually held in March each year. At the same time, the Budget for the year is also presented. The Budget is formulated by members of the Resource team usually in November after reviewing the year to date data and being aware of the needs during the following year. The Budget is approved by Church Council at the December meeting and passed at the AGM.
The income and expenditure for the full year (based on a calendar year) for all accounts held by the Church, are audited by a qualified auditor appointed at the AGM. This audit also conforms to the standard set down by Synod.
All expenditure is approved by 2 signatories to the accounts either by cheque or electronically. All income is receipted and the counting of the offering must abide by Synod regulations where at least two people are present to count.

Security and Fire Safety

Our Fire Safety and Training programme is fully approved by UCA and the local QFES.

Training events are offered for all groups involved in using the facilities annually. Group leaders are identified and good training relationships are maintained with our local Firies.

Safe Ministry with Children

Glebe Road fully participates in the UCA Qld Safe Ministry with Children programme; and is working within the Synod’s framework of training, qualification and compliance.

The Uniting Church is committed to providing safe places where people are cared for, nurtured and sustained and commits itself to the care, protection and safety of all people, particularly those who are vulnerable. We commit to ongoing compliance with requirements of the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 and the Working With Children (Risk Management and Screening) Regulation 2011, and adopt the Uniting Church in Australia, Queensland Synod Safe Ministry with Children Policy. We will ensure the implementation of procedures and resources to assist our congregation to meet and demonstrate its responsibilities under the Act.

The Glebe Road UC property comprises a range of multi-purpose facilities.
The Church Building – At its core is a medium sized auditorium which seats approximately 250 – 350 people comfortably in a formal yet inviting environment which lends itself to both corporate and relaxed worship services. An overflow area and catering hall is attached for more informal activities ideal for gatherings, meetings and youth and children’s activities.
The Fellowship Centre – A large hall is situated on site which is also ideal for large gatherings, dances, youth and children’s activities and also includes larger scale catering facilities.
Shalom House and the Neighbourhood Centre – also provide a flexible range of rooms and office accommodation.
A large Shade cloth greenhouse to cultivate plants for the Glebe Garden Club.
The entire facility is managed by the Property Maintenance Manager, Mr David Murphy, who oversees the site in relation to ensuring that we maintain a safe, comfortable and functional campus that is available for use by members of both our church and wider community.

Our manse in Flinders View is primarily purposed to house the Minister but is currently rented out.

Various sized venues are available for hire in our property. Groups must comply with community and legal restrictions (e.g. no alcohol, no smoking, no nuisance noise, finish by 9.30 p.m.) and have certificate of current insurance cover.

Office Administration

The Church office is open Tuesday through Friday from 9:00am – 12:00 noon and provides a service centre for contact with the minister, church staff, volunteers and the broader community.
The office is staffed by Heidi Kloostra and assisted by a range of volunteers who work together to provide a positive and friendly environment that provides administrative support for the various Ministry areas of our church.

IT and Communication

The Information Technology and Communication needs of the church are managed by volunteers and involve the development and maintenance of:
Computer equipment and systems
Email systems
Sound and projector systems
Website management and Social Media

Skilled and dedicated volunteers are always welcomed to assist in this ongoing aspect of ministry at Glebe Road UC.
